Is he old enough to drink wine?

Well there you go, 5^th for the UK and a convincing victory for the lil’ chap from Norway. It was a night that saw music firmly back on the agenda, with only a soupcon of political voting (I’m looking at you Andorra and everyone in the Balkans!). In the end a few people had to drop out and so we didn’t complete the full 25, and the 25 hour deadline simply wooshed by.

So what have we learned? Well despite me thinking that London housed eateries from all over the world, there are still some gaps with many countries cuisines unavailable. But I still think London does well for diversity in it’s food.

Secondly I, and many others it seems, were bowled over by the kindness and generosity of complete strangers. We were given things, told things and shown things; all at short notice and for free, and in these mean times it’s heart warming to see. I for one feel I know more about Maltese food, and I’m sure other people feel the same.

I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part. Some of the entries genuinely had me laughing like a drain. I was also impressed at the level of exploring people did. I hope those of you that took part enjoyed it. I wanted to get people out of their comfort zones and tackle a potentially unfamiliar subject with a short deadline fast approaching.  And a huge thank you to Paul at the BBC for letting us all come and ransack his meeting room.

All that remains is to have a slap up winner’s dinner sometime next week, where talk will no doubt turn to doing the same thing next year, as another practice before the big prize, eating the Olympics in 2012. So to that end I just bought www.eating2012.co.uk & www.eating2012.com !
